Crystal Palace vs Cardiff City

Dougie Freedman handed a start to young full-back Matthew Parsons while naming the club's youngest ever bench as Palace welcomed Cardiff who needed just a point to secure their place in the play-offs.

Palace started well but it was Cardiff who threatened first as Liam Lawrence's strike from distance was spilled by Lewis Price but the keeper reacted brilliantly to his error and tipped away Joe Mason's follow up when a goal looked certain. Sean Scannell and Glenn Murray both showed glimpses of quality in the attacking third before Wilfried Zaha gave the Eagles the lead. Zaha held the ball up well deep in his own before laying it off to Darren Ambrose, as the young winger made a run down the middle Ambrose released a perfectly weighted through-ball for Zaha who made no mistake, sliding the ball under David Marshall in the Cardiff goal.
