Alan Pardew has singled out Wilfried Zaha and Chung-yong Lee for their performances in a game that saw Palace create plenty of chances, and come away with a well-earned 1-0 win.
“I thought we were good today. We created lots more chances, Wilf was the best player, Chungy did very very well, and it’s a great victory and one for our fans.”
Yohan Cabaye was on the receiving end of what looked like a nasty tackle shortly before half-time and the midfielder was subsequently replaced at the interval, however Pardew is hoping the damage isn’t too serious.
“I was disappointed Mark (Clattenburg) didn’t give a free kick for that. Hopefully it won’t cost us and Yohan will be OK for Tuesday because it’s a very important game in our season, but we’ll have to see how he recovers in the next couple of days.”
Fraizer Campbell received a standing ovation from the home fans when substituted in the eightieth minute, and the manager was pleased with the striker’s application.
“I thought Fraizer and Punch were a threat all day, they kept creating little problems and that created a bit more space for Wilf. Chungy was a threat down the other side and then the game opens up a little bit gives us a bit more space. We had a threat all over the pitch today, solid at the back, clean sheet, Wayne plays well – all good.”
