Preview: Liverpool v Crystal Palace

PUBLISHED

06:30 23rd April 2017

INTRO
Palace head to Anfield today aiming to collect their third straight win at the venue and continue their fantastic form at the expense of the Reds.

Only Tottenham and Jurgen Klopp's men have picked up more points than the Eagles over the past six games, with the hosts able to move just two points behind title-challengers Spurs if they record a win on the weekend.

Roberto Firmino's 11th league goal of the season proved to be enough to beat West Bromwich Albion last time out, moving his team up to third in the table as they aim to secure a Champions League spot for the first time in three seasons.

Palace's hopes of a famous treble of Anfield success though looks tougher than recent years, as Liverpool have lost just once in their last 24 Premier League games at Anfield (W15 D8), but have kept just seven clean sheets in that time.

OPPOSITION VIEW

Jurgen Klopp: "When the ball is in the air Christian [Benteke] is a major threat. We felt it a lot of times here.

"If we let them cross 50 balls it's pretty likely he will have some dangerous headers.

"But if you only concentrate on Benteke, you have [Wilfried] Zaha and [Andros] Townsend around him. That is one of the best offensive lines in the Premier League."

TEAM NEWS

Liverpool: Klopp faces an injury crisis as he is definitely without Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana.

Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Lucas Leiva have all been labelled as doubts for this weekend’s match.

Palace: Mamadou Sakho is ineligible to play against his parent club, but James Tomkins is back in training again and looks set to return at Anfield.

There is also good news about Loic Remy who is fit again and available for selection, but Scott Dann, Connor Wickham and Pape Souare are out.

LAST MEETING AT ANFIELD

8th November 2015
Liverpool 1-2 Crystal Palace
Premier League

Jurgen Klopp suffered his first loss as Liverpool manager, seeing his side beaten by Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Defender Scott Dann nodded in the 82nd-minute winner, reacting quickest after Simon Mignolet parried his header.

The visitors took the lead in the first half through winger Yannick Bolasie, who swivelled inside the box to fire in after the Reds failed to clear.

Philippe Coutinho curled in Liverpool's leveller three minutes before half-time following Adam Lallana's flick, but Liverpool-born Dann then inflicted a first defeat in 13 matches for the Reds,
