Alan Pardew has confirmed that wingers Yannick Bolasie and Bakary Sako are back in fitness training, but are yet to join in full first team practice with the rest of the group.
Both have been out of action for a lengthy period, with Bolasie out since a hip injury sustained away to Stoke City in December and Sako in and out of action due to injury.
Pardew confirmed that striker Dwight Gayle had trained this week and that Connor Wickham was back from suspension for the game against Watford, before providing an update on the two wingers.
"We have Gayley hopefully available for this game. He's trained so far this week, so fingers crossed for him," he said. "Connor obviously returns after his ban, so a little bit better.
"The better news for us comes probably next week when Bolasie and Sako should be back. They're both running at the moment and they're very close, so much better news for us, particularly offensively."
