Loan Round-Up: Vital Win For Gray

15:17 15th February 2016

Jake Gray managed to help new Hartlepool United manager Craig Hignett mark his first game in charge with a victory as they picked up a huge three points in their quest to avoid the drop against fellow strugglers Yeovil Town.

The Palace man grazed the crossbar in the first minute at Victoria Park but the Pools would go two goals ahead in the second half before hanging on when the visitors pulled one back late on, with Gray completing the full 90 minutes.

That win lifts Hartlepool above the Glovers into 21st place in the League Two table, four points ahead of the bottom two. They are now preparing for a home game against Notts County on Tuesday evening.

Connor Dymond couldn’t add to his two appearances for Newport County as his loan spell ended as an unused substitute, but they too picked up a big win at the foot of that division, beating Carlisle United 1-0 at Rodney Parade.

That was the same fate for Jonny Williams as MK Dons beat Derby County 1-0 in the Championship to pull themselves five points away from the drop zone without the Welsh international getting his boots dirty, and a hamstring injury kept Ryan Inniss out of Port Vale’s goalless draw at home to Fleetwood Town.

In the National League Reise Allassani made his second appearance for Bromley but couldn’t halt their slide down the table as they lost 2-0 at Wrexham, and Oliver Pain played for Metropolitan Police in their 1-1 draw at Needham Market, a result that leaves them 12th in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
