Trials
The club do not hold open trials as recruitment is generally carried out by our scouting network. However, if the level of a boy's game is at Academy standard and he plays for a district, representative or county side his fixtures can be sent into the Academy for consideration.
When a promising player is offered a trial at the club he will be invited to an induction session where they will need to complete the relevant documentation in order to commence their trial period.
A trialist may attend the Academy for a trial period of six consecutive weeks in any one season.
After the trial period, a review will be made between the coach, a full time member of staff, the player and the parent/guardian.
If the player is unsuccessful with his trial, the player and his parent/guardian will receive a progress report, which will provide feedback and suggestions of how he can improve and work towards the required Academy standard.
It is vital at this stage that our scouting network then monitors the player and if significant progress is made he would be certainly re-invited to the Academy.
If applying for a trial, your letter to the Academy MUST include:-
1. Your name
2. Your address
3. Your contact telephone number
4. Your age
5. Your date of birth
6. Your height
7. The position you play
8. Your footballing CV or background
9. Your current team
10. The fixtures of your current team
11. Any other relevant information
12. Confirmation that you hold a British or EU passport, or have 'leave to remain' documentation.
Remember:-
It is important to enclose your FIXTURES, including dates, kick-off times and venues. This information will then be passed on to one of our scouts in your area who will report back to the chief scour/head of recruitment with his recommendation.
If you are not playing for a club, we cannot send a scout to watch you and therefore cannot consider your application.
We cannot recomment clubs for you to join or answer further questions.
We will only contact you if our scout recommends you for trials after seeing you play.
