Inniss Captains England Under 16s To Victory.

Posted on: Mon 01 Aug 2011

Palace defender Ryan Inniss captained England's under 16 team as they regained the Montaigu Tournament title on Monday after beating France on penalties in the final.

Last season's batch of Under 16 internationals narrowly lost out to Portugal in this competition, again after a penalty shoot-out, but this year's intake went one better, allowing captain Ryan Inniss to lift the Montaigu trophy.

15 year old Inniss started against Uruguay, was captain against Guinea and France whilst was an unused sub against UAE.

Kenny Swain's side reached the final by topping their four-team group with seven points. They beat Uruguay 5-0 and United Arab Emirates 3-2 before a goalless draw against Guinea on Saturday.

This win over France rounds off a successful campaign for the England U16 team because last month they also lifted the Victory Shield for the tenth straight year.
