The club is sad to announce the death recently of our former player Bernard Harrison aged 71.

Bernard joined Crystal Palace from Portsmouth in October 1955, making his first team debut in March 1956, and was with the club until the summer of 1959. During his time at Selhurst Park Bernard made exactly 100 first team appearances usually in his favoured position of outside-right from where he scored 12 goals as well as providing opportunities for the likes of Mike Deakin and Johnny Byrne.

In August 1959 Bernard joined Southampton, and later Exeter City, continuing to represent Hampshire in the County Cricket Championship while it appears that Bernard could excel at other sports as he gained county recognition in badminton and table tennis and could also have done so in hockey while at school but football took preference.

After his professional sporting careers Bernard turned to teaching in Hampshire where he also coached in sports and still capable of representing the first XIs at those schools he was at.

The club and supporters from his time with Palace send our condolences to his family and relatives at this sad time.
