Ground Guide: Peterborough Utd

Saturday 6 August sees Crystal Palace begin their 2011/12 npower Championship season with a trip to newly promoted Peterborough United with kick-off at 3.00pm. The trip to London Road will see the Eagles look to start the campaign with a positive result away from home whilst Peterborough will be looking to hit the ground running on their return to the second tier of English football.

Getting There

By Road

Two miles after the Norman Cross junction, exit A1 and follow signs to Peterborough (A1139) onto the A1139 Fletton Parkway. Exit Fletton Parkway at junction 3.

At the roundabout turn left onto the A1260 Nene Parkway. Take first exit and at aroundabout turn right into Shrewsbury Avenue. At T-Junction after half a mile, by Longueville Autos, turn right into the A605 Oundle Road. Fair Meadow car park is on the left hand side after one mile and the stadium is opposite.

Parking

The pay and display council car park at the stadium is £3 (up to 10 hours) from 7am - 5pm and £1 (unlimited time) from 5-7pm.

An alternative car park at the stadium is £3 for cars. The police advise that visiting fans park in the Fair Meadow car park on Oundle Road. Street parking is also avaiable.

By Rail

The closest station to London Road is Peterborough, which can be accessed by trains from London Kings Cross, with an average journey time of just over 45 minutes.

From the Station

Turn right out of the station and into the long-stay car park. Go under the Railway Bridge and walk up the path or steps to the main road. Turn right, passing the Evening Telegraph on the left hand side and then Asda to the right. Turn right into pedestrian shipping area (Bridge Street) and straight on over River Bridge and mini roundabout. The ground is on the left hand side.

Before Kick Off

The Cherry Tree pub on Oundle Road is popular with away fans which is close to the ground which has a car park and offers money off drinks if this used. The Palmerston Arms is another away fan friendly pub around 100 yards further down Oundle Road
