The Eagles ladies took a trip to the south coast on Sunday to play against a Brighton side that has been in reasonably good form this season.
The game got under way with both teams playing some very good football. Chances fell to either side however neither keeper was really tested.
After 38 minutes Brighton took the lead when one of their midfielders beat the Palace offside trap and placed the ball past Eagles keeper Sam Sharp.
It was a blow to Palace, who had been extremely solid defensively up until that point. The sucker punch came two minutes later when the Eagles cleared a corner only to see the ball land 20 yards out at a Brighton players feet for her to half volley the ball into the top corner.
After half time the Palace girls came out fighting. They were aggressive and fought for everything. They panicked Brighton and forced them to spend the majority of the second half in their own box.
Eagles new girl Sherelle Walters was running the Brighton defence ragged and should have had a penalty when she was pulled down in the box. Walters then had a fierce shot saved by the Seagulls' keeper.
Palace kept fighting until the end and were unfortunate not to leave this game with something. The girls are beginning to come together now and will hopefully pick up some much needed points when the play Portsmouth LFC at Whyteleafe this Sunday.
