Neil Warnock was disappointed to have conceded the winner so late in the game when it looked like his team had taken a point against a side with such an impressive home record.

Consolation arrived when in the dressing room he found results around the country had gone his way.

"The pleasing thing is that it is still in our hands to make the play-offs, I didn't really see a threat coming from them, so to give away a goal to a free header is disappointing.

Just after a few games of Warnock's reign at Palace he saw his team sit second bottom and is first to admit that in those days he couldn't have imagined a place in the top six.

"We can only get stronger though, and we've really enjoyed the second half of the season.

"No-one can complain if we don't make the play-offs, because we've given it a fantastic shot, and we've already surpassed everyone's expectations this season."

Even though the boss would have liked to have got a second equaliser he didn't want attacks to leave gaps at the back.

"At the end I didn't want us to go silly and concede another goal because it could be vital in the run-in as we've got a nice cushion on the teams below us."
