Warnock: "I Can't Believe We Have Not Won The Game"

Posted on: Mon 10 Aug 2009

Neil Warnock believed his side could have taken all three points after creating a multitude of chances against Paul Sturrock's Plymouth Argyle.

"It is not often that you create 20 chances in a game and do not win. We had 13 chances in the first half and seven in the second half. Not half chances, I am talking about chances and it is disappointing but from our point of view it is good to get on the way and we played some good stuff.  I thought we had to work terribly hard not to win the game today if am honest.

"We  grafted like hell to get a draw, I can't believe we have not won the game, but that is how it goes."

On the half hour mark new signing Stern John had to be stretchered off the pitch and the Eagles boss accepted that it was just an unfortunate injury.

"He is having an x-ray at the moment as he dislocated his elbow, but we do not know yet whether he has broken it. Obviously it is not good though but that is part and parcel though of the game. That's football. We just have to get on with it,  considering everything that has gone on before I thought we did ever so well today, super."

Alan Lee's second half equaliser levelled the proceedings and despite not starting the game, the Eagles boss praised the strikers commitment to the cause.

"Yeah absolutely he has worked hard in pre-season and before the game he was wishing the lads luck, and he got a very good goal for us when he came on."

Alassane N'Diaye made his first team debut at Selhurst Park, and he is a player that Warnock rates very highly following his decision to offer the young French midfielder a three year deal.

"I gave him a three year contract yesterday and I told him that before he has played a game for us. What i like about him is I love looking at him, he is such a happy man and he makes me feel good and he can play. He just wants to play football, in training Clint Hill and Shaun Derry kick him up in the air but he just gets up and goes for the next tackle. You don't get many players like him around and that is why I gave him a three year deal, he is a breath of fresh air."
