Warnock: "It Was Emotional"

Posted on: Sat 30 Jan 2010

Neil Warnock's difficult week came to the perfect end with three points at Selhurst Park but his press conference mainly focussed on speculation surrounding departures from his squad.

He revealed that a Premier League club were set to open talks with Victor Moses but without revealing the club he did believe that the figure could be around £2.5million.

The boss was not sure how many others he would lose before the transfer window closes on Monday but he did say that he was surprised at some of the bids from clubs which he has been told about.

"Some of the offers we have had from clubs for some of our players have been disgusting, pathetic really, I just hope the administrator is responsible with the offers because I know what I would do with them.

"One Premier League club offered £1.5million for Moses and Nathanial Clyne."

Neil Danns scored both goals which sealed this win after a week which has seen the club having to start clawing back the deducted ten points. The midfielder has been subject to offers but once again Warnock was quick to add his views to these enquiries.

"Southampton have made an offer for Neil and a couple of other clubs have made offers for other players, but, no disrespect to Southampton, who have already taken Jose Fonte off us, that would be a backward step unless you want a few quid. And I think Neil Danns' career comes first."

The offers are coming in to the administrator but the manager knows that decisions have to be made with both the short and long term view in mind.

"I'm aware of a couple of derisory offers for other players - and I don't think the administrator can put a gun to players' heads. He has to be careful because whoever buys the club are not going to want it decimated for a few pieces of silver."

Throughout the match the crowd of just under 15,000 showed their support for the team and the boss thought their reponse was special at the end when he led the players to the centre circle to show their appreciation.

"It was emotional at the end, the fans were fantastic.  We don't get enough credit for the ability we have in the squad but this was a very good end to a difficult week."
