The final away match of the season for Neil Warnock's side sees one change from the victory seven days ago as suspended Victor Moses misses out so Neil Danns returned from injury. Youngsters once again dominate a  injury and suspended hit squad as James Comley and Kieron Cadogan take their place on the bench with Nathaniel Clyne obviously starting at right back.

Sean O Driscoll made three changes to the home side as they celebrate guaranteeing themselves a place in next season's championship after their first season at this level. After their victory down at Plymouth last week van Nieuwstadt comes in for the injured Matthew Hills whilst Kazenga Lua-Lua and James Hayter are also given starting places.

The opening quarter of the game saw little opportunity for either side with Doncaster having a couple of early corners but both didn't trouble Julian Speroni. The first seeing John Spicer shoot over the bar and the second by Martin Woods providing an easy catch for the goalkeeper.

v Doncaster

It was the twenty first minute mark  when Palace came the closest to scoring as they struck the post on two occasions. A Nick Carle free kick was headed onto the post Johannes Ertl and then the next move saw a good run by Danns end with a right foot shot which hit the bottom of Neil Sullivan's right hand post.

For the third time in a five minute spell the woodwork once again denied the visitors as Anthony Stokes shoots a curling shot around Sullivan but against the post.

Palace continued to be the side looking the more likely to find the net as the opening period went on as Sullivan saved from Danns on 34 minutes and soon after Carle puts a ball across goal but no team mate is in front of goal to get a touch even though the 'keeper is beaten.

Rovers finished the half with a deflected shot by Dean Shiels being put out for a corner by Paddy McCarthy and from the resulting corner the deadline was broken. It was Sheils who was on hand to put the past Speroni as he was found in the box by Richie Wellens and the home side went ahead.

The half time whistle went soon after as Palace went into the break behind but it could have been a different story if it was not for the woodwork.

Two early chances at the start of the second half as Palace looked for a quick reply to the late first half goal. Carle shot wide of the target with a shot from just outside the box and then Stokes had a shot which was taken by Sullivan in the Rovers goal.

Just before the hour mark the first change was made from the bench as Carle was replaced by Cadogan.

On 64 minutes the visitors were just inches from getting back on level terms as Danns saw his close range effort go just over Sullivan's bar after Clyne had done well on the right and got the cross in for the midfielder.

A further change was made from the bench on 68 minutes as Shefki Kuqi was replaced by James Scowcroft.

Palace thought they had got back on level terms when Stokes put the ball past Sullivan as he got on the end of Cadogan cross but the linesman's flag was raised.

It was not long though before the lead was extended for O'Driscoll's side as Waide Fairhurst picked the ball up on the right and crossed for James Hayter who made no mistake when he fired past Speroni to give the Rovers a 2-0 lead.

Lee Hills became the third substitute from Warnock on 76 minutes as he came on for Fonte.

Speroni kept the score at two with an excellent save from a free kick just outside the box by Martin Woods as the 'keeper tipped the chance over the bar as five minutes was left on the clock.

Palace's best chance to get a late consolation came from a shot by Stokes which curled wide of the target. The two goal margin remained until  the final whistle when the home side did a lap of honour after a fine season which saw them retaining their championship status.
