Clinton With The Elite

Posted on: Tue 08 Jan 2008

Clinton Morrison almost added another accolade to the array of landmarks he has reached this season.

The 28-year-old bagged his hundredth Palace goal in November and became the joint fifth highest scorer in the club's history, equalling the 108-goal mark set by team-mate Dougie Freedman, when he scored against Norwich City on New Year's Day.

In between, Morrison had an excellent December, notching four goals in seven games, including the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with West Brom, the winner at QPR and a decisive strike in the Boxing Day victory at Coventry.

These goals, alongside Clinton's unselfish work defensively and overall contribution to the team, put him in the shortlist to scoop the Powerade Player of the Month Award.

The striker was only pipped at the post by West Brom striker Kevin Phillips' five goals during the month.
