Freedman Moves

Posted on: Fri 07 Mar 2008

Dougie Freedman has joined Leeds United on loan until the end of the season. The loan agreement has been finalised in time for him to be available for their match this weekend against Bournemouth.

The 33 year old has made four starts and 15 appearances from the substitutes bench during this campaign and is now looking for more match action with the league one side.

"I have decided to take this opportunity as I feel it has come at a good time and will give me a chance to prove my match sharpness. My heart is still at Palace because you don't spend that amount of time there without having a love for the club and if I can do well at Leeds it will mean the door will still be open in the summer and see me return. I have another year on my contract but I am looking forward to this opportunity but only time will tell whether it is the right decision.

"I have been very grateful to Neil Warnock for having given me the coaching opportunity at Palace with the reserves but I do feel my playing career has suffered a little bit even though I have gained valueable experience. Maybe from my point of view it has come at the wrong time but I now have this chance to have a couple of months at Leeds United and we will see how things work out.

"If I enjoy it and things go well I will carry on playing whilst at the same time the Chairman and Manager have said there is always an option on the coaching side so we will have to wait and see what the future brings." Freedman told the official site.
