EXCLUSIVE: Deadline Frenzy - Reid and Ashton Join, Three Leave
West Ham left midfielder Kyel Reid and 21-year-old Nathan Ashton have become Palace's second and third loan transfer deadline day captures.
Twenty-year-old Reid (pictured) and Fulham left back Ashton arrive a matter of hours after Scott Sinclair joined from Chelsea. All three deals are loan signings until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Tony Craig has returned to his former club Millwall, Ryan Hall has moved to Crawley following the completion of his loan stint at Dagenham & Redbridge, and Jeff Hughes joins Bristol Rovers. The trio join Blackpool-bound Scott Flinders as temporary departures until the end of the present campaign.
Reid made his full Hammers debut in a 1-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion in 2005/06 and stepped off the bench in the infamous final match of that campaign against a sickly Tottenham Hotspur side, cut down by a virus.
Reid also had an hour run-out in the League Cup defeat at Chesterfield in October 2006 before being loaned to Championship outfit Barnsley, where he made 26 appearances for the Tykes as they narrowly avoided relegation.
This season, the England Under-19 player - who joined the club as an Academy scholar in July 2004 - has had few first team opportunities, but he did set up Dean Ashton's last-gasp winner against Plymouth Argyle in the League Cup Third Round.
In November 2007 he signed a new contract tying him to Upton Park until summer 2009.
Plaistow-born Ashton came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic, making his debut in the League Cup against Carlisle in September 2006.
He joined Millwall on loan in March 2007, but was not given the opportunity to make an appearance by the then Lions boss Willie Donachie.
But the following August Ashton, who has played for England at Under 18 level, signed for Premier League side Fulham, where he made his only appearance to date in the 3-1 win against Reading three months later.
