Pre-Season: East Grinstead 0-6 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace won in comfortable style at the East Court on Wednesday night after goals from Sean Scannell, Alessane N'Diaye, Simon Thomas, Nathaniel Pinney and two from Kieron Cadogan handed them a 6-0 victory.
It took just 20 minutes for Palace to take the lead. A mistake by the Grinstead centre half allowed Scannell to steal the ball and run it down the right flank before whipping in a low cross to an unmarked Pinney to tap past the keeper.
The second half though proved to be a true display of the sizeable gap between the two sides as tiredness took hold of the home side and Palace ran rampant.
Just after the quarter-of-an-hour mark a superb long ball from Lee Hills dropped into the path of Scannell, who had managed to spring the offside trap and slide the ball under the Grinstead keeper from outside the box.
Hills was then provider for Palace's third when he finished his overlapping run with a cross that the home side's defence failed to clear.
The ball fell into the path of N'Diaye and the Frenchman calmly slotted the ball into the keeper's left hand post for 3-0.
Four minutes later the home side were again guilty of not clearing their lines when a Danny Butterfield ball down the right flank was not cleared and Cadogan quickly latched on to the loose ball.
The winger then used his first touch to take the ball into the area before shooting with his left past the keeper.
East Grinstead had a glorious opportunity to grab themselves a consolation goal on 65 minutes when the referee somewhat harshly adjudged James Comley to have brought down their forward inside the area.
But Palace's trialist keeper managed to pull off a terrific stop low down to his right before quickly getting to his feet and smothering the second effort.
On 79 minutes Palace made it five.
Another superb long range ball from Hills fell into the path of Cadogan, who cut onto his right and smashed his shot in off the underside of the bar.
The win was rounded off with little over two minutes to go when Simon Thomas was found with an inch perfect cross from Cadogan and headed past the helpless keeper.
