Calvin Andrew Edges Closer To Return

Posted on: Tue 27 Oct 2009

Striker Calvin Andrew played his first 30 minutes of football on Monday afternoon following six months out with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee.

He suffered the injury in May against Stockport County while on loan at Brighton last season, and had an ACL reconstruction on the knee to repair the damage in the summer.

Speaking to the official website Mick Jones confirmed the striker's return to action:

"Calvin played his first competitive game for half-an-hour on Monday, and he is miles ahead of schedule following one of the worst knee injuries I have ever seen.

"It was three serious injuries in one knee and he has come through that. He has got three more weeks now before he sees the surgeon to get the all clear, but touch wood, and wishing the best for him, I just hope that continues because that will give us a bit more strength upfront."
