Danny Butterfield spoke to Palace Player after Tuesday night's F.A. Cup Fourth Round Replay win over Wolves, and he revealed that the moment he completed his hat trick will live with him for many years to come.
Along with it being the fastest hat trick in Crystal Palace's history, it was also the coveted 'perfect' hat trick as he scored with his head, right foot and then left foot.
"Yeah left foot, right foot and a header but I still can't believe it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I suppose I will wake up and it will have sunk in. It is something I will cherish for the rest of my career."
Palace now go on to the fifth round and can look forward to a glamour tie against Aston Villa at Selhurst Park, but while admitting that it is one to look forward to Danny was eager to emphasise the importance of focusing on the league campaign starting with a trip to Scunthorpe on Saturday.
"It is a chance for the boys to pit themselves against Premiership players and it is a chance for the fans to see Premiership football at Selhurst Park. As well as the financial side of things that benefit the club I think it is going to be a great occasion.
"These are great nights when they happen but we know that come Saturday it will be a completely different test against Scunthorpe who gave us a good hiding when they came to Selhurst so we owe them one. But I think as a group of players we have to stick together and get points on the board in the Championship."
Palace Player subscribers can watch the interview in full on Thursday at 9am.
