Crystal Palace Reserve team manager, Ronnie Jepson, was pleased with his side's overall performance on Thursday afternoon, despite watching his side lose to QPR Reserves by three goals to one.
It was the first time Palace's second string have lost under his leadership, but Jepson was more concerned about the performance than the record.
"I am not disappointed," he told www.cpfc.co.uk shortly after the final whistle.
"It was very difficult in terms of the conditions of the pitch, the ball bouncing all over the place and it being very windy. We struggled in first half, but in the second half I thought we did well.
"Young Wilf (Zaha) got a great goal, we had numerous opportunities to go level at 2-2, but we didn't and they got the third at the death when we were pushing forward.
"But the lads applied themselves well on a difficult pitch, the goal was pleasing and so were the chances we created."
The match also saw first team centre half Paddy McCarthy return since his shoulder injury forced him out in November. The Irishman managed an hour's play before being replaced and Jepson thought he did well.
"Paddy came back today and we got an hour out of him. He looked a bit rusty, but it was great to see him back and getting through the game.
"We changed it round a little bit today and and tried one or two things to give the gaffer the chance to have a look at one or two of the pros. But like I have said before we are more interested in the performance and people like Paddy getting through it unscathed.
"I don't rate performances in the Reserves, as long as he (Paddy) gets through it and the manager is there watching him, then he can assess it and take it from there."
