Crystal Palace Reserves were forced to come from behind twice against QPR Reserves to earn a 3-3 draw at the Beckenham Training Ground.

Max Ehmer opened the scoring for Rangers on 40 minutes before a Nathaniel Pinney brace either side of the half time interval put Palace into the lead.

Moritz Volz got the visitor's second with just over ten minutes to go and then added a third on 86 minutes. Kieron Cadogan's last gasp effort a minute into stoppage time forced the draw.

The opening stages were completely uneventful until the 13th minute when Palace almost snatched the lead through Jack Holland.

The centre half pounced on a loose ball as QPR failed to clear a free kick from the right, and with his weaker left foot he smashed it high over the bar from 12 yards.

Ten minutes later his defensive partner, Jerry Nnamani, should have done better when he was unmarked in the box and headed straight at Rangers keeper, Shane McWeeney, from six yards out.

Palace's keeper, Charlie Mann, was also called into action moments later, this time with a far trickier save to make when he had to get down low to his left and palm away Elliot Cox's downward header.

But Mann was left helpless on 40 minutes when Matteo Alberti robbed Alassane N'Diaye in a wide left position and played a lofted ball into the box. It was knocked on by Cox to Ehmer, who met it in mid air with a side footed volley that looped over Mann's fingertips and into the back of the net.

All was square though on the stroke of half time when Danny Fitzsimmons handled a Nick Carle free kick in the box to leave the referee with no other option but to point to the spot.

Pinney stepped up and hit it low and hard to McWeeney's left and the Ranger's keeper managed to get down quick enough and get a strong hand on it. Fortunately though the ball popped back up to the Palace striker for a simple tap in to an empty net.

His second followed two minutes into the restart when Cadogan was found on the right wing by Carle and played a low ball into the box for Pinney.

His first time effort was blocked by the covering defender but he latched on to the loose ball, shimmied this way and that to try and find some space before firing a left footed strike that cannoned off a blue and white shirt and nestled into the inside post.

He should of completed his hat trick on the hour mark when he sped onto a speculative pass through the middle of the Rangers defence and found himself in a one on one with McWeeney.

Letting the ball bounce he tried to lob the advancing keeper who managed to get enough of a fingertip on it to push it away and into the path of the covering defender to clear.

Three minutes later he was again denied by the Rangers keeper when he was put through with a perfectly judged pass from trialist Yaser Kasim, but this time his first touch was a little too heavy allowing McWeeney to charge off his line and block his shot.

In the end Palace were made to pay for their missed chances when the visitors levelled the scores on 77 minutes.

Former Arsenal and Fulham defender Moritz Volz, playing in a central midfield role, received the ball from a throw in on the left, turned and fired a low drive from just outside the box past Mann and into the bottom corner.

His second of the afternoon though was an even better strike.

Shortly after Sam Bewick had somehow managed to hit the bar from just inside the box with only Mann to beat on 85 minutes, he picked up the ball 30 yards out, knocked it past Kasim with his first touch before hitting a brilliant effort low and true across Mann and into the far bottom corner.

But Palace are unbeaten at home this season in the Totesport.com Combination League and they made sure that record remained intact with their last minute equaliser.

With virtually the last kick of the game, Cadogan popped up at the back post to flick Pinney's shot across goal past McWeeney.
