Life is certainly different now for 19 year old Sean Scannell, at Palace he has over 80 appearances to his name, working under a new management team and away from football is now the proud father to his son, Kaiden.
In amongst getting back to pre-season training he has to get use to a different way of life off the field. "Yes over the summer it has been pretty hectic really with the birth of Kaiden and now time at home is spent looking after him but it is just a great feeling for us both to have him now".
The Croydon born youngster is now well back into pre-season training, although he missed the Crawley friendly due to a slight strain, and told us he is pleased to be back in and working on his game.
"It's been difficult with the running but it's been good. It is disappointing to have suffered the injury but hopefully will not be long before I will be back in action. It has not all been running and we are out working with the football so that has been good.
"At the moment we've been doing the running and working on our passing and little drills to help improve our game. It's been good and then by next week, due to the games, we'll probably be doing more individual stuff."
Like all his team mates he has had to get use to working under a new manager and one who has great experience at this level so the Irish international can only see it being good for his game.
" The first couple of weeks have been enjoyable. He's a manager that helps you and works individually on aspects of your own game. He works hard to get the best out of you and he has a very definite way of how he wants the team to play.
" The management team have all been stressing the way we should be preparing to play in games. They just want us to play football the right way and it will help my own game so I am obviously pleased from my point of view."
