The Price Is Right

Posted on: Thu 29 Jul 2010

Crystal Palace have signed goalkeeper Lewis Price on a two year contract. The 26 year old has been training with the club in pre-season and has appeared in some of the friendly games over the last couple of weeks.

He graduated through the Ipswich Town youth system and during the 2004/05 season broke into the Town first team. After just making just over 70 appearances for the Suffolk based club he joined Premier League outfit Derby County in 2007 but has also spent time out on loan at Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Luton and Brentford during his career.

He has made six full appearances for the Wales national side since his international debut against Cyprus.

Lewis spoke to the official website just after completing the deal and was pleased to be joining the club. "I am absolutely made up. There is a good set of lads here. When I came down on trial I settled in quite easily and I just wanted to sign from day one.

"The move came about through Malcolm Webster, the goalkeeping coach here, who asked me to come down and train and see if I liked it and it just went from there really.

"Julian Speroni has had three great seasons for the club and it will be a challenge to try and win that number one position off him but it is a challenge i am prepared for, I knew he was a good keeper before i joined and he has impressed me even more since I have been here. He may be number one but I am going to push him all the way and hopefully I can get some games this season for Crystal Palace."
