SCAN FOR RHOYS

Crystal Palace are waiting on the results of a scan to determine how serious the knee injury sustained by defender Rhoys Wiggins will be.

The 18-year-old, in his first year as a professional after coming through the club's Academy ranks, had to be substituted in the first half of Saturday's game with Crystal Palace USA and there were immediate fears over his condition.

The Welsh Under 21 international was due for a scan on Monday afternoon (USA time) and the Palace medical staff are now awaiting the results of that before it is determined exactly what injury Wiggings had suffered.

Speaking about the news, first team coach Kit Symons said: "Rhoys is going for a scan this afternoon (Monday) and we'll know a bit more after that.

"It looks as though it might be a knee ligament injury, but they've hopefully just been stretched a bit rather than ruptured.

"We'll have to wait and see and we remain hopeful until the scan proves otherwise.

"It has been the only downfall of the trip so far."
