Next Up...Swansea City
The international break is now over and we can once again concentrate fully on the Championship schedule, with newly promoted Swansea City the next to visit Selhurst Park.
However, new to this division they may be, they are certainly not a side to be underestimated. Currently sitting in 7th position, the Swans have signaled their arrival with some impressive results and some big scalps.
An opening day blip, in the form of a 2-0 defeat to Charlton, was soon corrected with a win at home to Nottingham Forest and then away at Plymouth. Their draw against Sheffield Wednesday has given them a total of seven points and they sit just shy of the play off zone.
Palace meanwhile will be looking at this match as a must win. The 4-2 defeat to Reading two weeks ago showed a lot more promise, with Nick Carle and Tom Soares breaking the goal duck to give the Eagles a momentary 2-1 lead.
However, Neil Warnock will certainly be looking for a reaction from his defenders after some slack defending allowed Kevin Doyle to claim a hat-trick and the three points for the Royals.
Opposition's View
Darren Pratley
"It's early days yet, but it looks like we will be okay in this league if we carry on playing the way we have so far.
"Palace have some good young players and were a Premier League team not too long ago, but I think we are quite good on the road and hopefully we can keep our good start going."
Team News
Victor Moses, Lee Hills and Sean Scannell have returned from international duty without injury and will be in contention.
While skipper, Shaun Derry, should be back involved after serving out his two match suspension.
For Swansea, Fede Bessone could be in contention after recovering from a fractured rib while Gorka Pintado (back) and Marcos Painter (ankle) should also be fit.
Previous Encounters
After spending much of their recent history in the lower divisions, the last time Crystal Palace hosted the Swans was back in 1984 in the old Division 2 when the Eagles ran out 2-0 winners.
Earlier that season, Swansea had drawn first blood with a 1-0 win.
You then have to go back to the 1960's, 64 to be exact, when the two sides met, again in the old Division 2. At Palace the Swans battled hard for a 3-3 draw but managed to get all three points when they were at home and won 2-1.
