Scott joined Palace in the summer of 2006 from Barnsley for a fee that could rise up to £1 million depending on appearances and incentives and he is seen as one for the future by everyone at Selhurst Park.
His first team opportunities during his maiden season at Selhurst Park were limited, with competition coming in the shape of Gabor Kiraly and Julian Speroni as well as loanee Iain Turner, but his hard work on the training ground with coach Tony Burns will stand him in good stead fo the future.
The Yorkshireman also added to his experience by taking in two loan spells during the 2006/07 season, firstly with Gillingham where he put in some impressive performances and then when he finished the season with Brighton and Hove Albion, again in good form.
With Kiraly's release from Selhurst Park in May 2007, Flinders had the opportunity to grab a first team place in 2007/08, but has been sidlined by the fine form of Julian Speroni.
An imposing goalkeeper at over six foot in height, Flinders came through the ranks with Barnsley and made his debut for them as a teenager in March 2005. His impressive form for the Tykes in that run in the team brought him to the attention of the England staff and he was rewarded with a call-up to the England Under 20 squad.
Taylor also has first hand experience of the player's ability, having selected him for a Football League XI team to face Italy at the KC Stadium in the 2005/06 season.
Flinders' ever-increasing reputation also saw him earn trials with both Chelsea and Wigan Athletic during 2005/06 and he became Taylor's third signing since taking over at Selhurst Park following the earlier additions of Leon Cort from Hull City and Mark Kennedy from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
