When George Burley secured the services of Owen Garvan from Ipswich Town during the closed season of 2010/11, it marked the first time Palace had paid money for a player since the signing of Alan Lee almost two years earlier.
The midfielder ended a five year professional relationship with Ipswich to join the Eagles, after progressing through the Academy ranks at Portman Road.
He was given his debut against Cardiff City in 2005, and continued on to make 31 appearances and scored three goals in his maiden season.
Over the following two seasons, (2006/07 & 2007/08) he maintained his place in the side, only to fall out of favour under Roy Keane and became a fringe player.
Owen made 28 appearances in all competitions in his first season at Selhurst Park which saw him score three exceptionally well taken goals of undoubted quality, two at home to Watford in a 4-2 win and the other away to Preston North End.
