The left-sided defender made the breakthrough into the reserve side at the end of the 2004/05 season and continued to develop in the 2005/06 campaign before signing his first professional contract with the club in 2006.
Another player to impress during the Under 18 side's run to the FA Youth Cup quater-finals, Rhoys is now also a regular in Brian Flynn's Wales Under 21 side.
He appears to have taken to international footabll with ease, so much so that he was an unused substitute for Wales in a full international match against Trinidad and Tobago in May 2006.
After returning to pre-season training with the first team squad in 2006, he travelled with Peter Taylor's men to the USA on their pre-season tour but disaster struck when he picked up a serious knee ligament injury in a friendly against the CPFC USA team, which ruled him out for the entirety of the 2006/07 campaign.
Rhoys put in a lot of hard work to complete his re-habilitation and it was a boost for everyone to see him return to full training with the squad in the final few weeks of the season, so he will now be looking to get back on track in 2007/08.
