Twelve months ago Simon Thomas was preparing for a new season with non-league side, Boreham Wood. During the week he would be going to his 9-5 job in the city, while his s would be spent on the training field.
Now, after impressing Neil Warnock against Palace, he has been offered a two year contract and the chance to play in the Championship.
A tall, commanding forward who is equally comfortable with the ball at his feet, Thomas undeniably has something to prove to Warnock and the Palace fans after jumping up such a huge gap.
He had a good pre-season, getting his first goals for the club during the tour of Cornwall.
