Crystal Palace Reserves continued their 100% start to their Totesport.com Combination campaign with a 2-1 away win against Eastbourne Borough at the Langney Sports Club.
Development Coach and Reserve Team Manager, Ronnie Jepson fielded a young side with debutant Dan Pringle brought in to cover an injured Jack Holland at centre half, while the only experience in the side was that of Darryl Flahavan, Ryan Smith and Lee Hills.
Nevertheless the young side took the lead within the opening 20 minutes. Eastbourne had battled well in the opening stages and looked comfortable playing their passing football but never managed to really test Flahavan.
The opener came somewhat against the run of play, but it was well worth the admission fee alone as winger Kieron Cadogan capitalised on a mistake from a home defender 35 yards out and smashed a brilliant first time effort over the keeper and into the back of the net.
Nathaniel Pinney then stretched the Eagles' lead on 35 minutes when he slipped the ball under goalkeeper Danny Knowles, following some good work on the right from Kieran Djilali.
But Eastbourne came out for the second half on the front foot and quickly established control of the play before pulling a goal back shortly before the hour mark when James Fraser converted from close range.
The home side had further opportunities to bring the scores level when they hit the bar on 67 minutes and then Ross Trevaelen missed a penalty on 78 minutes.
Palace though managed to see out the remaining minutes to record their third win of the season. Ronnie Jepson's side are next in action on Wednesday 21st October when they travel to Aldershot. Kick Off is at 2pm.
