Report : Brighton Res 0 Crystal Palace Res 0

Ronnie Jepson's reserve side were held to a 0-0 draw at Culver Road last night when they took on Brighton in the Totesport.com Combination League.

The opening 45 minutes failed to see either side create any notable chances despite both teams having steady spells of possession on a very dry pitch.

Former Palace Academy product Jamie Smith was in action for the Seagulls and very nearly gave his team the lead after the restart . The clever midfielder used his quick feet to negotiate himself some space in the middle and hit a driving shot which forced Eagles keeper Ashlee Jones into action.

More chances would come the way of the home side with Seb Carole, Ishmael Kamara and Smith all trying to break the deadlock for the 90 minute encounter.

Kieran Djilali's jinking run caused problems for the Albion defence on the hour mark when he cut inside from the wing and into the box, however, despite getting himself into a good position he was unable to finish off the fine run with a goal.

On the 75th minute James Comley had the game's first real clear chance when he out muscled James Tunnicliffe on the edge of the box, which in turn opened up a one on one opportunity with Mitch Walker, however Walker was quick to react and stood tall to block the resulting shot.

Moments later Walker again showed his worth when Djilali cut inside from the left wing and struck a swerving shot which Walker parried away safely to his left

With second placed Albion trailing the Eagles by six points at the start of the evening, that deficit did not change come the end of the whistle as both teams picked up just one point from a possible three.
