Mutch became Alan Pardew's second signing as Palace manager when he arrived from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee in January 2015, making his debut as a substitute in the Eagles' 1-0 defeat to Everton at the end of that month.

The midfielder began his career with Birmingham City where he came through their youth system and became the second youngest player in their history when he made his debut aged 16 in a League Cup tie with Southampton in 2008.

After loan spells at Hereford United, Doncaster Rovers and Watford he made his league bow for the Blues in a Premier League game against Manchester United in 2010, and following their relegation at the end of that campaign he became a regular in the side that reached the Championship play-offs the following season.

In the summer of 2012 he joined Cardiff City and helped the club reach the Premier League for the first time in their history as they lifted the Championship title in his first year. In total he went on to make 60 appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring seven goals.

The former England under-21 international arrived at Loftus Road in the summer and went on to feature 11 times for Rangers, nine of which came in the Premier League, and he went on to play seven times for the Eagles before the end of 2014/15, and the following campaign saw him play 25 further times in all competitions.
