Left-back Souare was snapped up by the Eagles in the January 2015 transfer window from Lille on an undisclosed fee, and after receiving a work permit made his debut for the club in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool the following month.

He went on to gain valuable experience of life in England in his 10 appearances for the Eagles in the second half of the season, putting in some impressive displays on the left of the Palace defence as he got to grips with his new league.

That helped him become a mainstay of the side in 2015/16 as he played in 41 games for Palace, completing ahalf century of games on the final day of the season against Southampton before starting the 2016 FA Cup final.

The Senegelse defender was a product of Lille's academy and made 55 league appearances for them, helping them win a league and cup double in 2010/11 and featuring in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. He also had a season-long loan spell with Stade Reims in 2012/13.

As well as a regular for his club, Souare is a fixture in his national side, and won two caps in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations competition in Equatorial Guinea. He also featured for his country's under-23 side in the 2012 Olympics where he played against Team GB in their first group match.
