A product of the Palace academy, the winger marked his first-team debut by scoring a last-gasp equaliser against Newcastle United in the League Cup in September 2014, and having previously had a short loan spell at Crawley Town, later that season won Cambridge United's and Palace's Young Player of the Year awards after he was sent out on loan to League Two and hit six goals in 30 appearances.

The 2015/16 season saw him step up a level with Shrewsbury Town where he impressed again, finishing as their top scorer with 12 goals to his name, and after returning to SE25 after helping the Shrews survive relegation he was rewarded with a Premier League debut against Southampton in May 2016.
