Bobby Greener was a wing-half who made the move south from County Durham and started establishing himself in the team from just before Christmas in 1923, only missing a couple of the remaining league fixtures during that season.
Greener became a permanent fixture in a Palace shirt, coming close to promotion to the Division Three South on a couple of occasions.
After making just under 300 league appearances for the club, the midfielder’s service was rewarded with a benefit match in 1929 when the Corinthians were the opponents for a 3-3 draw.
