Jimmy Wilde is a former club captain, a role he held for six seasons. Wilde was a regular throughout his eight campaigns with the Glaziers after joining in 1928.
The defender made his debut in an FA Cup tie against Kettering Town and immediately made the centre-back spot his own with a victory against the Poppies in this game, kickstarting a 17-match unbeaten run for Palace.
Wilde made his mark in Palace colours in the heart of defence but was also regularly deployed in the wing-half positions.
After his days as a first-team player came to a close Wilde chose to stay and help others on the training field to get their first-team break in a coaching capacity.
