John Jackson made his debut in the second match of the 1964/65 season and, with Bill Glazier departing, it was not long before the Hammersmith-born goalkeeper made the No.1 spot his own.
In two of the next four Second Division seasons he was an ever-present, becoming just one of three players who played each game in the promotion-winning 1968/69 campaign.
Jackson’s proud appearance record continued with his arrival in the top flight, missing just four games in club’s four seasons spent there.
