Peter Wall

Date of birth

Bert Head signed Peter Wall in the summer of 1970 from Liverpool, adding proven quality to the Palace back four ahead of their season in Division One.

Wall's first two seasons saw him miss only a handful of appearances but in the third match of 72/73 he suffered a broken leg following a tackle with Tommy Smith against his former club.

The injury plus a loan spell at Leyton Orient meant he was out of Palace colours for some time - Wall made 11 appearances upon his return during 73/74.

The defender played in all eight FA Cup ties when, as a Division Three side, the club reached the semi-final of the competition and the Shrewsbury-born defender missed just four league matches during that campaign.
