A disappointing performance at Hayes Lane saw Palace Ladies go out of the Womens Premier League Cup on Sunday afternoon against Lewes Women.
The Palace management made one change to the Palace side from the midweek victory as Jade Davenport replaced Leesa Haydock.
The visitors took the lead on the fifteen minute mark after a good start to the game by them. Katie McIntyre’s corner was cleared by Megan Lynch but only to Amy Taylor, whose shot went in off the inside of the post to give them an early advantage.
Palace came back well but it was not long before the lead was increased. Taylor made a run down the left, as she got the better of her marker and then got the cross in which fell to Avilla Bergin to score their winning goal of the afternoon.
Just before the hour mark of the game the home side got their way back into the game through Gemma Bryan. She got on the end of a long ball forward and made no mistake as she lobbed the ball over Lewes keeper, Faye Barker.
This gave Palace some hope of maybe getting back on level terms but it was to be and coach Dean Davenport could not hide his disappointment after the game when he said “It was very disappointing today, apologies to all our supporters who came to watch, very unlike us. We will work hard to put it right in our next game.”
