Welcome back Palace fans! The 2025/26 Barclays Women's Super League 2 season is underway, and here is what you can expect on matchday!

Speaking to former Lioness Lianne Sanderson, Sharpe discussed the season so far and highlighted Palace's fine form since the start of the year.

She began: "We didn't have the best start to the season - we lost a few games and drew a few games that we would have wanted to win. 

"I think since just before Christmas, our results have been so much better - we're on a run at the moment. 

"Promotion has always been in our sights - that's something we've wanted this season and we haven't shied away from it."

Sharpe reflected on how last season's relegation from the Women's Super League affected the team, and how it has been used as motivation for this campaign.

"It's obviously a difficult one being up there last season and then coming down, we took a hit and it was hard for the girls that got relegated. 

"But I think we've just pulled together as a team, which has been so important. 

"The standard in the WSL now is crazy and there's some unbelievable, world-class players.

"When you get to that level, staying there takes hard work every single week and you need to get points out of the big clubs sometimes and that's something that we failed to do last year, unfortunately," she said.

I just love playing football for Palace and the club means the world to me now.

Sharpe is Palace Women's record appearance-maker in the professional era, [becoming the first player to reach the 100 appearances mark in September.](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/women/molly-mae-sharpe-100-appearances-in-red-and-blue/)

Having donned the red and blue for five years now, she talked about what makes the club so special.

She said: "I think there is such a family feel around the club. Obviously, I'm not from London, I'm from the North, but when you get here, you do feel like you're at home.

"It feels like people want to look after you, the community feel that the club's got, being at the Academy, being around the boys - you feel really part of it. 

"I think that's the main thing for me, the facilities are amazing and I just love playing football for Palace and the club means the world to me now."

Sharpe then spoke about life under Jo Potter, someone who Sanderson played with at Arsenal.

"She's got high demands for us. I won't sugarcoat it - she expects a lot from us, but I think with the set of players that we've got, why shouldn't she and why wouldn't she? 

"Because we've got a lot of talent. She holds us accountable when we're not doing what we can do and she holds herself and the other coaches accountable when they're not doing the best that they can do as well, which I have so much respect for. 

"She is a fierce competitor, even in training. She wants all the teams to have that winning mentality and I think that then shows on a Sunday.

"I think that's so important around training and being in the sport that we play, just being competitive, constantly. 

"Since she's been in she's been brilliant and since we were talking about the turn of our results - I think a lot of that's down to Jo, helping us, giving us confidence, letting us also be free," she said.

Palace's number eight talked about the emotions leading up to the game, and what it took to beat the Addicks.

She said: "Everything was riding on that game - Charlton were top, we were six points away and we were thinking we need to win this game or else we're going to lose the pack. 

"It was at Selhurst, it was a big occasion for me and the girls, and we thrive when we play there - we absolutely love it, that's where we want to be.

"We feel like it's a privilege for us to play there as well and I think going into that game - we had a really good game plan.

"We knew what Charlton were going to do, they like to go long - we knew that and I felt we dealt with it really well, but I do think it just came down to who wanted it more and it was us at the end of the day.

"The goals that we scored were really, really good and with my assist - I got kicked in the face when I headed it!

"It was an unbelievable game, unbelievable day and such an experience again for us to play at Selhurst."

With just two games remaining in the Barclays Women's Super League 2, Palace can still earn automatic promotion to the topflight.

If they win one of their remaining games against Sunderland and Portsmouth, they will guarantee a promotion playoff spot.

Sharpe spoke about the team's mentality heading into these two seismic games. 

She said: "This is a completely new situation, so I think we're just looking at it as we still have the chance to finish first or second.

"We're just going to do everything in our power - win them last two games and see if other results go our way."

Sharpe and the team return to WSL2 action on Sunday, 26th April with a trip to Sunderland.

Following that will be the final game of the regular season - Portsmouth at home on the 2nd May.

Palace are currently fighting for an immediate return to the Women's Super League, and sit third in the league with two games to go.

One more win would seal a promotion playoff position, but two wins could see the Eagles go up automatically.

Opponents Portsmouth will likely need a win in South London to avoid relegation to the third-tier, so both teams will be desperate to win in Sutton.

### **Before you travel**

**All tickets will be digital** and will be emailed to the account holder before each game.

**Tickets for every game** will be sent out as PDF files, which can either be scanned on your phone at the gates, or printed off at home.

Although we are not expecting any travel disruption, we always recommend arriving early to soak up the atmosphere and avoid any queues at the turnstiles.

### **Seating Arrangements**

Although all supporters at Selhurst Park matches will be seated, matches **in Sutton** will see supporters have the option of purchasing either a **Seating Ticket** – allowing them to reserve a specific seat within the VBS Community Stadium’s stands – or a **Standing Ticket**.

Standing Tickets are not restricted to specific areas. Supporters will be able to move around all terracing stands at the VBS Community Stadium, depending on availability.

### **Getting to the VBS Community Stadium**

The VBS Community Stadium is easily accessible by both car and public transport.

The closest train station is West Sutton, which is just a short walk from the ground. Alternatively, you can take a train to Sutton station and enjoy a 20-minute walk down the high street to the stadium. If you’re travelling by bus, the 413 and 80 routes run close to the stadium.

For those driving, please note that the stadium car park is for permit holders only. We recommend parking at the Gibson Road municipal car park, which is about a 15-minute walk from the ground.

### **Can I watch from home?**

If you are unable to attend the VBS Community Stadium, you can still watch the game LIVE on YouTube, with a link to the stream being provided closer to kick-off.

It's set to be a dramatic final day in the Barclays Women's Super League 2, as Palace could seal promotion to the topflight at home to Portsmouth. Read below to see what will be on offer in Sutton...

What to expect from Palace Women v Portsmouth

Back the Eagles!

Last May, it was announced that [Crystal Palace Women would be competing in the newly-named Women's Super League 2.](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/palace-women-to-compete-in-newly-named-wsl2-from-2025-26/)

Along with a new name - the WSL2 has a new structure for this season. 

In previous years, only the top team would earn promotion to the WSL,  this was how Palace earned WSL promotion in the 2023/24 season.

However, for this season only, up to three teams can go up - making this a totally unique campaign for Jo Potter's side.

#### **Who gets promoted to the WSL this season?**

- Like previous years, the first-place side will earn automatic promotion to the WSL.
- The second-place team will also earn automatic promotion to the topflight.
- The third-place team will contest a playoff game against the bottom side in the WSL, with the winner taking the last spot in the topflight.

The 2025/26 format is unique to this campaign, as from the 2026/27 season onwards - the second-place team will contest the playoff against the 13th-place WSL side.

This means the WSL will have 14 teams instead of 12 from the 2026/27 season.

#### **What do Palace need to do?**

Following the recent 1-0 win over Ipswich Town, Palace Women are now in third-place with 38 points - the promotion playoff position.

Birmingham now sit in first-place, six points ahead of Palace on 41 points.

Second-place Charlton Athletic are also on 41 points, but have a significantly worse goal difference than the Blues.

Fourth-place Newcastle United find themselves on 33 points, and must win both of their remaining games to have a chance at making the playoff.

**If Palace win one of their two remaining games**, they will guarantee a promotion playoff spot as a minimum.

**To catch Birmingham**, Palace will need to win both games, and hope the Blues earn no more than two points from their remaining two games.

**To catch Charlton**, Palace will need to win all three games, and hope the Addicks fail to win both of their two remaining games.

It's all set to be a dramatic final day - as Palace host 12th-place Portsmouth, whilst Charlton take on Birmingham at home.

The Run-In: What do Palace need to get promoted?

The final round of fixtures in the WSL2 have been confirmed to take place on Saturday 2nd May with all matches kicking off at 15:00 and available to watch on YouTube.

As a reminder, the teams that finish first and second are automatically promoted - whilst the team who finishes third has an opportunity to take the final Barclays WSL spot if they win the Play Off against the 12th placed Barclays WSL team, a new feature for this season.  

Palace currently occupy that third-spot, and will host Portsmouth in the final game of the regular season at the VBS Community Stadium on Saturday 2nd May.

Should Palace finish the season in third, they will then contest the Play Off with the 12th-place WSL team - read below the find out the details.

##### **The Play Off details**

The final curtain comes down on the season at the Play-Off, the one-off game presented by Mercedes-Benz, which will determine who takes the final spot in the expanded Barclays WSL next season.

Due to the Barclays WSL2 season finishing a week earlier, it was agreed that the Play Off will take place at the home ground of the participating Barclays WSL2 club. 

Both competing clubs will be given an equal spilt of general admission tickets.

Only six games remain in the Barclays Women's Super League 2, and Palace find themselves in third-place.

This would not be enough for promotion in seasons gone by, but up to three teams can get promoted this season as a result of the WSL's expansion to 14 teams from next season.

The first and second-place teams will earn automatic promotion, whilst the third-place team will contest a play-off against the team that finishes last in the WSL.

**With the Eagles already in third, and just one point behind second-place - now is the perfect time to get down to the VBS and cheer the team on!**

Palace are coming into form at the perfect time as well, with the Eagles having won seven of their last eight games in the league.

Their next game is on Sunday, 15th March - where they take on Nottingham Forest at the VBS Community Stadium, and a win could see the Eagles climb to second-place.
