George Wood has today joined the club from Blackpool as goalkeeping coach following Lee Turner’s departure to Bolton Wanderers.
Wood has been at Blackpool since August 2011 and before that had coaching roles at Hartlepool United, Cardiff City and Swindon Town.
Wood’s playing career that spread over 27 years included four at Crystal Palace between 1983 and 1987 where he made 192 appearances.
The Scottish born goalkeeper told the official website after his first training session with the club’s players, “Working with Ian Holloway and Keith Millen was one of the main attractions of coming here and the other was the chance to win promotion to the top flight with Crystal Palace.
“I know of both Julian Speroni and Lewis Price, who are two very good goalkeepers and look forward to working with both of them as well as the academy keepers.”
