Dougie Freedman saw his side pull off an impressive pre-season victory over Dulwich before giving his thoughts to the Palace website.
"We brought a very young energetic team with us to get some game time and I thought they acquitted themselves fantastically well. They showed me that underneath the first team is a good performance squad. It was very pleasing for me to see that.
The game was notable for the introduction of Freedman himself from the bench and the manager explaining the reasons behind that move.
"What had happened was that I wanted to bring more of a first team down here and because of the Exeter situation we've had to mix up our training and our games. We're going to go to Spain in a few days so unfortunately I couldn't bring a first team down. I thought I'd give it ten minutes myself and add a few quid to the gate and give something extra for the fans.
Impressive performances from a number of youngsters showed there may a few more of Gary Issott's squad breaking into the first team this year, while Freedman commented on recent speculation linking the club with the likes of Alexis Allart.
"Alexis has been in training with us and (going through) fitness testing. We are quite strict on that, if we make a signing we've got to get things right so that's where we are with that one right now. Jose's (Baxter) just looking to get fit, Alexis is somebody we would maybe like to sign but we just need to see where he's at. We're working hard (on signings) but we want to get the right type in and with the right ability."
