Two Crystal Palace Academy players, Luke Croll and David Gregory, attended the recent South Norwood Community Festival on Saturday 7th July. Despite the poor weather, a large turn out was present and the players were introduced to everyone involved in the festival in order to meet the local community first hand. Goalkeeper David and centre-back Luke also spent time giving advice and telling young developing footballers stories about their football careers, including how David had ironically began his career as a striker and had even scored when playing against Luke in an under 8s cup final match.
Having just met a Crystal Palace season ticket holder who took part of the Olympic Torch relay this year, the players also met Mr Yeatman, a life-long Eagles' supporter who had taken part in the 1948 London Olympics Torch relay - and allowed the players the opportunity to hold the torch (pictured above).
Study Centre manager Susan Biggs, who organised the trip, said: "The players thoroughly enjoyed their time at the South Norwood Community Festival and hope every Crystal Palace supporter will be able to come out in force and support the entire squad next season. The club would also like to take the opportunity to thank Natalie Wright, a volunteer from Study Centre who handed out leaflets and spoke to a number of people explaining the work the club do in the community.
