Just days to before the opening ceremony of the Olympics takes place in East London on Friday evening the final stages of the Olympic torch relay took place in South Norwood earlier this week.
En route from Bromley through to Croydon town centre the torch went down Whitehorse Lane in front of many local residents including many Palace supporters. They cheered the torchbearer Gareth Jones on his way under clear blue sky as the summer arrived in time to welcome the world to London.
Jones, 27, from London has played hockey all his life and used his love of the sport to raise money for Cancer Research and Children in Need. He now coaches new starters and hopes to encourage Team GB Olympic stars of tomorrow.
A big thank you to all those supporters who came out and lined the streets in SE25 as memories for some went back to the days when Selhurst Park was a venue staging Olympic football in 1948.
