"I'm not relieved, I'm very happy for the Crystal Palace fans. They have stuck with us through the last three of four games but that was a display of character and determination to repay the fans who have stuck by us through thick and thin. We all make mistakes, we all lose games but people should have a look at our fans to see what it's all about. I'm happy for them."
Freedman also praised the impact of his substitutes as Palace scored late on for victory.
"The turning point for me was when Jonny Williams came on and turned the game. He kept our momentum going and the substitutions were very positive, Goodwillie, as well. We wanted to go and win the game, that's what we were focused on. Let's focus on good football and good players, we played a very expansive game today that left us a bit vulnerable at times but going forward we always had that threat and you saw that today."
"We've picked up a few players who are maybe a little bit rusty but I felt today there was a lot of character in that team. I always thought we had a threat with the two wide players in that team. I'm guilty of not giving the defenders enough credit but we had the goal threat that's been missing today. I don't make excuses but with the players we've got coming back and the additions have really helped us. I've been in this business 20 odd years but I felt we showed what type of club we are. We grouped together, top to bottom, the fans to the board and the players to the coaching staff. They ground it out today and shows you what we're all about."
