Palace Player Builds Up To Derby Day

14 September 2012

It's been nearly two weeks since Palace took to the field, and if you've been missing your Eagles fix then Palace Player has been the place to be.

We've been building up to the big derby game all week, and the full pre-match press conference from Dougie Freedman is online now where he reveals his thoughts on the game, plus reflects on his decision to hand Mile Jedinak the captaincy in Paddy McCarthy's absence.

Speaking of Paddy, he sat down with us to discuss the various methods he has undergone to try and get back on the pitch as soon as possible, and admits how gutted he is to be missing the clash against Charlton.

To whet your appetite ahead of the game at The Valley, we have also uploaded some highlights from classic matches between the two sides, including Palace's last win there in the 2004/05 season, plus some action from the 1994 promotion-winning campaign.

There has been a couple of short-term departures at the club this week, with David Wright and Kwesi Appiah moving to Gillingham and Aldershot on one month loan respectively. Palace Player was first on hand to chat to both players about what they hope to get from their moves as they look forward to playing first-team football again.

We also chatted to fitness coach Scott Guyett about how he got the players in shape over pre-season, and the effect that the international break has on the squad's fitness levels.

So for all the action and reaction from tonight's game plus the midweek tussle with Nottingham Forest throughout next week, sign up to Palace Player today.
