Legendary Palace players from the last 50 years gathered in Speroni’s last night at a superb dinner to raise funds for Geoff Thomas’s Leukaemia Research charity. The event was kindly sponsored by Mitre, whose tremendous support really helped get the event off the ground and is most appreciated by both the club and Geoff Thomas.
Over 100 Palace fans attended the evening hosted by Palace favourite Barry Williams, and there was superb comedy from the deceptive comedian Mike Cassidy.
Guests mingled with the likes of current Premier League players Shaun Derry and Clint Hill, as well as former Eagles players Chris Coleman, Dickie Dowsett, Alan Stephenson, Mark Bright, Martin Hinshelwood, Steve Kember, John Jackson, Jim Cannon and many more.
Geoff himself was delighted with the event; “Crystal Palace is my football home and it was truly a fantastic night. The occasion will raise the profile and thousands of pounds for the charity. Catching up with some of the lads again was great, and I would personally like to thank everyone who made the night such a great success!”
With this event being such a huge success for both the Palace fans and former players in attendance, more Old Guard events will be planned in the near future to celebrate the rich history of our club and those who played their part.
The Geoff Thomas Foundation works with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to raise funds for a network of national centre’s, allowing patients to benefit from the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers.
