Paul Lambert's side go into two home games over the Christmas period and take the field for this one on the back of their third defeat in a row last Saturday at Stoke City. This time of year is not great for the Midlands side when you take a look at the record books, they have won just one of their last 12 Boxing Day fixtures and at Villa Park so far this season have only picked up two wins.
The midlanders have failed to score in four of their last five Premier League home games. Villa's six goals at home is the lowest in the division and they have failed to score in the first half of any home league match so far this campaign.
Aston Villa: Christian Benteke has gone back home to Belgium to receive treatment on knee and hip injuries so misses Villa's festive programme and Paul Lambert has Ashley Westwood out through suspension but Gabby Agbonlahor is available for this one after his own suspension.
Crystal Palace: Marouane Chamakh is out for the visitors after receiving five bookings so far this season and on the injury front Tony Pulis has a number of long term injuries but is also leaving it late to name his side as midfielders Kagisho Dikgacoi and Stuart O'Keefe face late fitness tests after both missing the last game with muscular injuries.
Referee: Howard Webb.
Assistants: S Beck, P Kirkup.
Fourth Official: M Dean.
