Tony Pulis came away from his side's second away game in forty eight hours disappointed that he hadn't got anything from this encounter. A clear sign of how far the team have come in recent weeks.
"Having our second away game in a few days and coming to Manchester City was always going to be difficult and we are obviously disappointed to be leaving here without something from the game.
"Playing the form team in the Premier League at home was always going to be a tough challenge and quite an ask for my lads. We went about our task well, looked solid and dangerous, played with a good shape and looked dangerous on the break. We know though its about picking the final right pass or taking your chances when they come along, people will talk about Joe Hart’s fantastic saves but the chance when Joel Ward had a great free header was one he should have scored. That though is being highly critical bearing in mind how well we played and how we stuck to our task today."
Pulis had to make an enforced change though when Cameron Jerome came off worse in a challenge with the City goalkeeper.
"Cameron had to come off with an ankle injury but we won’t know the full extent for a couple of days and will let it settle down and then see how he is. I see Joe has quite a shiner from the clash as well."
Palace end the year outside the bottom three and can take plenty of positives from how the team is progressing.
"We got beat at Chelsea by the odd goal and were disappointed not to take anything from that and we won at Villa as well as all the positives from today, so we have gone away already and done well but what we need to do is turn these odd goal defeats into draws or even victories.
"We’ve done well, we are in the group and it was important that we got a certain amount of points before the turn of the year and that is all I can ask for. We’ve done that and now we have an opportunity to bring some players in and strengthen the squad, let's give it a good blast in the second half of the season."
